researchers move into new laboratory

The Mobile and Satellite Communications Research Centre entrance. The recently completed Mobile and Satellite Communications Research Centre (MSCRC) is now starting to receive the first researchers transferred in from older accommodation. The centre is shared between the School of Informatics and the School of Engineering, Design and Technology and consists of six spacious modern laboratories, including an anechoic chamber, plus some specialist offices and two meeting spaces. At present, the Telecommunications and Networks groups from the School of Informatics have moved into two of the laboratories: a third one will be occupied shortly. The Centre was created with a grant of £550,000 from the National Science Research Investment Fund and this has been augmented with substantial additional funds from the Yorkshire Forward Centre for Industrial Collaboration in Wireless Technologies.
