Introduction

The group currently holds one Knowledge Transfer Partnership grant along with Universal AV Ltd worth £99,044, one grant with Microsoft of £64,925 (ongoing), 2 EPSRC Case Studentships of  £63,224 (with A P Solve Ltd)  and £70,367 (with Vidus) and one EU project ‘Euro-ASia CollaboraTions and NetWorking in Information Engineering System Technology’  for £208,419.

Modelling Optimisation Scheduling and Intelligent Control - click for website. The MOSAIC research group is committed to the investigation and development of new modelling, optimisation and decision support technologies, which bridge the gap between the theory and practice of optimisation. Specific research areas are:

  • The investigation, modelling and solution of real-world scheduling and optimisation problems in partnership with commercial, scientific and governmental collaborators

  • The investigation of tailored and general-purpose models, algorithms, heuristics, metaheuristics and evolutionary algorithms, and hyperheuristics

  • The development of flexible and easy-to-use decision support technologies (e.g. modelling languages, object libraries, graphical user interfaces)

  • Other areas which will facilitate the future application of optimisation and decision support

We have a range of MPhil and PhD projects in these areas for candidates with good honours degrees in appropriate computing, scientific or mathematics disciplines.
