Head of Research Group Dr Irfan AwanIntroduction
In a recently completed EPSRC funded project “Stochastic Analysis of Congestion Control for Internet Traffic with Quality of Service Constraints (GR/S01658/01)”, new cost effective analytical models were developed for the most crucial Internet traffic congestion problem. The project has been overall evaluated as “tending to outstanding”. A recently started State-based Inspection of Network security Behaviour for Improved attack protectioN (SINBIN) project, in collaboration with Syphan - a local industry, focuses on producing algorithms that are designed to efficiently detect complex multi-staged attacks, at high-speeds (10Gb/s), and which can quickly respond to changes in attack vectors and types without sacrificing speed or latency. For this purpose, a new state-of-the-art attack laboratory has been constructed in order to conduct the testing methodologies. Three PhD students and two MSc students are currently working on this project. Taught MSc Programmes of one year duration are available:
