Microcomputer Music RESEARCH

The Microcomputer Music Unit specialises in musical sound synthesis. Following European Commission funded research to examine the computational problems involved in real-time handling of multiple waveform synthesis and output, the MMRU is developing a new improved generation of sound synthesis tool, aided by funding from NESTA. The Arts and Humanities Research Board are funding research into hybrid pipe-electronic organs.
Architectures and algorithms for additive synthesis of musical sounds

Current Research ACTIVITIES

  • Musical sound synthesis and instrument simulation
  • Hybrid pipe-electronic organ research and implementation
  • Simultaneous musical sound perception
  • Environmental acoustic and musical sound perception
