The Digital Media research is handled through the groupings:

  • DIGITAL IMAGING
    This group is primarily involved with techniques for manipulation and interpretation of real images. Important areas include recognition of specific features in an image and identification of content in compressed domains. This group includes the Digital Media and Systems Research Institute.

  • VISUAL COMPUTING
    This group has evolved from the internationally respected work of Professor Rae Earnshaw in computer graphics and animation. The focus now is on advanced methods for image synthesis, computer games design and programming, and digital media methods for the entertainment industry

  • COMMUNICATION, CULTURAL AND MEDIA STUDIES
    This group embraces Media Studies specialists, emphasising digital influences, Cultural Studies aspects, including the developing World, and Communication Studies specialists, including a strong synergy with the long-established telecommunications research at Bradford.
