Head of Research Centre Prof Apostol Vourdas

The Emergent Computing research work within the school is handled through two groupings:

  • IQIS
    The Intelligent and Quantum Information Systems Group majors on quantum information processing but also includes data mining, database, bioinformatics and mathematics.

  • MOSAIC
    The Modelling, Optimisation, Scheduling and Intelligent Control Group which is concerned with optimal scheduling of human and machine activities, and with artificial intelligence in games.

  • Mathematics
    The Mathematics Unit consists of both full-time members of staff and staff in the School with specialist mathematical expertise. Interests include statistics, discrete maths, and modelling.
