I aim to help all sectors of the business community utilise the talents of the Informatucs team at the University of Bradford - Ali Rashid, Director of Innovation and Enterprise.

INFORMATICS INNOVATION UNIT

We offer the expertise of specialists within the School to commercial and social enterprises with the aim of collaborating to enhance the competitiveness of the community in which we all live and work. This collaboration is part of a Government initiative called Knowledge Transfer, which also includes partnerships with national and international companies.

Areas of EXPERTISE

We work amongst people who are curious and inventive within many areas of creative technology and all aspects of digital media. SIMULA is our own specialist unit for targeting and utilising these skill-sets, and bringing many projects to fruition

Consultancies

  • Companies often call on our specialists to co-operate with research and development or to help solve a knotty problem. Big corporations or small businesses can all improve through the use of new technology. Or just using it better. Please contact the IIU for more details.

Partnerships

  • We welcome relationships which would improve the learning experience of students. This can be with businesses or community projects. Find out more in our Partnerships section.

Skills and Training

  • We run a number of courses in the IT and Digital Media area which aim to bring people up to date or simply expand their skills. We can also offer some of these courses, or devise training to suit a company's needs, in the workplace. Please contact the IIU for more details.

Start-ups

  • We can supply an array of help and advice for present, past and future graduates who want to start their own business in Bradford. We have incubator units matched with professional skills and there's even money for business plans and mentors. See the Think Business website for more information.

Placements

  • Companies can offer our students a year industry. Sometimes it's to fill a shortfall in a particular skill and it's a short commitment at moderate cost. Sometimes it's with a view to recruitment in the long term. See the Placements or Graduate Recruitment sections for more details.
