Professor Rae A. Earnshaw

Picture of Professor Rae Earnshaw.Rae Earnshaw is Dean of the School of Informatics and Professor of Electronic Imaging and Media Communications at the University of Bradford, UK. He has been a Visiting Professor at Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA, Northwestern Polytechnical University, China, George Washington University, Washington DC, USA, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. He was a Director of the NATO Advanced Study Institutes on computer graphics and CAD in the UK in 1985 and in Italy in 1987. He is a member of ACM, IEEE, CGS, Eurographics, and a Fellow of the British Computer Society. He is an Expert Adviser to the European Commission, a Reviewer for Framework 6 proposals, and an Evaluator research projects.

Prof Earnshaw has authored and edited 31 books on computer graphics, visualization, multimedia, design, and virtual reality, and published 130 papers in these areas. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of The Visual Computer, IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications, the Journal of Visualization and Computer Animation, Managing Editor of Virtual Reality: Research, Development and Applications, Vice-President of the Computer Graphics Society, and Chair of the British Computer Society Computer Graphics and Displays Group.

Professor John A. Vince

Picture of Professor John Vince.Prof. John Vince began working in computer graphics at Middlesex Polytechnic in 1968. His research activities centred on computer animation software and resulted in the PICASO and PRISM animation systems. Whilst at Middlesex, he designed the UK's first MSc course in Computer Graphics, and developed a popular programme of short courses in computer animation for television designers. In 1986 he joined Rediffusion Simulation as a Research Consultant and worked on the development of real-time computer systems for commercial flight simulators. In 1992 he was appointed Chief Scientist of Thomson Training Simulation. In 1995 he was appointed Professor of Digital Media at the National Centre for Computer Animation at Bournemouth University, and in 1999 he was made Head of Academic Group for Computer Animation. He has written and edited over 25 books on computer graphics, computer animation and virtual reality. He is a co-Editor-in-Chief of the VR Journal.

Professor Hong Yan

Picture of Professor Hong Yan.Hon Yan is a Professor in the School of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of Sydney, Australia and also a Professor of Computer Engineering in the Electronic Engineering Department at the City University of Hong Kong. His research interests include computer animation, signal and image processing, pattern recognition, and neural and fuzzy algorithms. He received a BE from Nanking Institute of Posts and telecommunications in 1982, an MSE from the University of Michigan in 1984, and a PhD from Yale University in 1989, all in electrical engineering. He is a Fellow of of the International Association for Pattern Recognition; a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Australia; a senior member of the IEEE; and a member of the International Society for Optical Engineers, the International Neural Network Society, and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine
