Computer Graphics International Conference (CGI) is the official conference of the Computer Graphics Society (CGS). One of the few truly international computer graphics organizations, CGI and CGS were started by Professor Kunii in the early 1980's as CG Tokyo. After some initial successes in Tokyo, adding an exhibition and having a few thousands participants in total each year, the conference moved into the international arena. Recent conferences have been held in the UK, Korea, Belgium, Germany, Canada, Geneva, and Hong Kong.

Papers presenting original research in computer graphics are being sought. Suggested topics include (but are not limited to):

Computer Animation Image Based Rendering

Computer Art Non Photo-realistic Rendering

Rendering Techniques Virtual Reality

Geometric and Solid Modeling Computational Geometry

Physically Based Modeling Graphics Hardware Architecture

Volume Visualization Data Compression

Scientific Visualization Geographic Information Systems

Real Time Graphics Digital Libraries

Multimedia Computer Vision

Digital Media Games

Cyberspace Applications Graphics for Internet and Mobile Systems

Contribution of Art to Scientific Understanding

In addition to the Papers Track technical program, we plan to have two additional tracks:

  1. The Professional Track will focus on the commercial applications and industrial use of computer graphics and digital media systems.
  2. The Cultural Track for those interested in culture, heritage and media.

All paper submissions must reach us by 1 December 2001.

Special Issue in Journal of Visualization and Computer Animation

Outstanding papers will be selected for publication in a special issue in the Journal of Visualization and Computer Animation, published by John Wiley. The best paper of the conference will be included in a special Computer Graphics Society issue regrouping Computer Animation, Computer Graphics International and Multimedia Modeling.

CALL FOR COURSE PROPOSALS

============================

CGI2002 plans to offer a Course programme. We will be able to present a wide range of Courses, and the selection will be guided by the quality and relevance to the potential audience. A Course proposal should contain the following information:

  • A brief description of the Course, suitable for inclusion in the conference registration brochure.
  • A detailed outline of the Course and level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced).
  • Duration of the Course (1/2 day, 1 day etc)
  • A clear statement of the necessary background and the potential target audience for the Course.
  • A description of why the Course topic is of interest to the CGI2002 audience.
  • A brief resume of the presenter(s), which should include: name, postal address, phone and fax numbers, email address, background in the Course area (e.g., teaching experience, brief resume).

Please note that Courses are intended to provide an overview of the field. They should present state-of-the-art information in a balanced way. If you are interested in giving a Course, please send a proposal to R.A.Earnshaw@bradford.ac.uk by 1 DECEMBER 2001.

Full papers in English of no more than 5000 words containing original and unpublished results are solicited. The paper should include a cover page containing the title of the paper, authors' names and affiliations, an abstract, some keywords, and information of a contact author (postal address, email address, phone number and fax number).

Authors are encouraged to submit their papers via email to Margaret Denison, M.A.Denison@bradford.ac.uk Acceptable file formats are: Postscript, PDF, and MS Word. For hardcopy submissions, 5 copies of the manuscripts should be sent to the following address:
